Growing Mushrooms

Growing mushrooms is something that Mike had been wanting to do. I'm on board, having acquired a taste since experiencing something besides Campbell's.
First he cut oak logs from live trees that had weak spots or were too crowded and let them dry out a bit.

Then drilled holes into all the logs.

Aforementioned hole drilling.

Tapping in mushroom plugs.

Plugs inoculated with shitake spawn.

Holes sealed with wax. This keeps the type of mushroom we want in and other fungus out.

Help from sister, Audra, and Bobby.

Finished logs. The plugs should form mycelium all through the wood. Now we keep them wet and wait :)
